Randazzo anticipates Argentina will intensify its Malvinas’ claim campaign

Following on unanimous support from all political sectors in Congress Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo reiterated on Friday Argentina’s sovereignty claims over the Falklands/Malvinas Islands, underlining that “Malvinas are a State policy“ and Argentina rights over the Islands are ”inalienable.”

Randazzo underlined support from the political spectrum and advanced that the Argentine Government is to “keep on insisting that Britain sits down to negotiate.”

“The sovereignty claim of Malvinas for us is an inalienable State policy” the government minister said during a radio interview. He added that ”the Argentine government will keep on insisting that the UK government sits down for negotiation talks, as mandated by the UN”.

“If you analyze Argentine history, you will find that the Malvinas sovereignty claim has been one of the few consensuses of all democratic governments” Randazzo remarked.

He also highlighted the claims have intensified on the international forums, “always through pacific means” and effective diplomacy.

“We have gradually gathered and continue to gather more support from other countries,” he said.

“We have no doubt: the Malvinas Islands belong to Argentina. There is no reasonable explanation for the British presence on the Islands. It is a usurpation of a territory which doesn’t belong to them”.

“Furthermore, the Islands are over ten thousand kilometres from the United Kingdom”.
