Argentine Stocks: Grupo Clarin Falls; Telecom Argentina Rises

The following companies had unusual price changes in Argentine trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of the close in Buenos Aires.

The Merval Index fell 0.1 percent to 2,440.87.

Grupo Clarin SA (GCLA AF) fell 1.1 percent to 8.8 pesos, the lowest since Dec. 21, 2009. The media group extended losses after Argentina yesterday sent police to block access to a building in Buenos Aires housing offices of Cablevision SA following a judicial order. Cablevision is a unit of Clarin.

Telecom Argentina SA (TECO2 AF) increased 3.4 percent to 16.95 pesos. The Argentine telephone operator rose after the United Nations’ economic unit for the region, known as Cepal for its initials in Spanish, said Argentina’s economy will expand 4.8 percent this year, higher than the average for Latin America.
