Tourists spend $1.7 bil pesos during long weekend

Argentines that traveled during the long weekend to different touristic spots around the country spent a total of $1.7 billion pesos, according to the Argentine Confederation for Middle sized Businesses (CAME).
Almost two million people made good use of the four-day weekend and travelled to different touristic spots all over Argentina, «thus confirming the relevance that tourism has for the economy,» the CAME stated in a communiqué.
Between Thursday and Sunday, tourists spent $1.7 billion pesos, and an average $281,9 per person.
This «great exchange of travelers» took place despite the fact that only two weeks ago there wan equally successful long weekend.
The CAME also predicted that the summer season «will be very good», considering the high rate of bookings of homes, apartments and hotels in the high season.

The Atlantic Coast, the Córdoba province and the Las Grutas area of Rio Negro were all highlighted as the top touristic destinations.
