After a series of agitating incidents that interrupted the teacher’s protest outside the City Legislature downtown on Thursday, City lawmakers finally approved Friday morning, a law which modifies the system of teachers’ Classification Boards and teacher promotions.
The bill that was finally passed was put forward by lawmaker Sergio Abrevaya (Civic Coalition) and tried to find a midway between the government and the teachers, who were rejecting the plan to eliminate the Classification Boards.
After the approval of the bill, Ademys, one of the teachers unions began a new 24-hour strike, even though the action was not followed by the main teaching trade union, UTE-Ctera.
