Domestic Trade Secretary Guillermo Moreno.
Domestic Trade Secretary Guillermo Moreno announced the deals reached with major supermarkets to offer Christmas baskets. The cheapest will have a 7 percent increase in comparison with its 2010 price and will cost $11. That basket will include roasted nuts, sweet bread, nougat candy and cider. There will also two other baskets: an intermediate and a premium one.
Moreno took part of the press conference held by Economy Minister Amado Boudou and Agriculture Minister Julián Domínguez to announce that the limit of wheat exports will be raised to 2.7 million tons.
When ámbito.com asked him whether a deal had been reached, the Trade Secretary said that it effectively been reached, and that the asado will have the same price as in 2010. According to Moreno, “if we analyze the Liniers market’s price for the live kilo, in average, it’s practically the same price of 2010.” That enabled the Trade Secretariat to reach a deal with the most important supermarkets in which during the last two weeks of December the price of the asado will have the same price of 2010, of approximately $20.”
Regarding the Christmas basket, Moreno “announced that the three levels of baskets will be available in the second week of December in national, regional and Asian owned supermarkets.”
