Alibi of only suspect in Tomás Santillán’s murder falls through

Tomás Dameno Santillán.
The alibi of Adalberto Cuello, the only suspect in the murder of 9-year old Tomás Dameno Santillán last week, didn’t hold up after his girlfriend assured she was not with him when the boy was murdered.
Adalberto Cuello used to date the boy’s mother, and witnesses assured Tomás was terrified of him.
Investigators determined that the suspect could have picked up the boy at school, killed him, dumped his body where it was found and returned home in only fourteen minutes.
Cuello’s girlfriend María Inés Márquez testified to the police and said that last Tuesday afternoon, when the child was abducted, she was “working” and was not with her partner.
Márquez, a teacher, assured that she was working at school, which means that the alibi he had provided earlier when he assured he was with her at a friend’s house is false.
Cuello assured that at the time of the crime, he was with Márquez at a friend’s house nicknamed “Lechuza,” who he was asking for money.
Earlier, police officials found the rucksack that Santillán was using before he was killed, and a spade, which police assume was the fatal weapon used to murder the boy, it was reported this morning.
The discovery was made in the surrounding areas of the countryside area where the boy’s body was found last week; the 9-year-old went missing last Tuesday when he was leaving his school at midday.
Police were carrying out their investigation in the outskirts of Lincoln, Tomás’ hometown, in the Buenos Aires Province.
According to sources investigating the case, further inspections on the spade found by police are being carried out, to be able to determine whether the object was used to murder Tomás.
