Two people were arrested by police after last night fire of a retirement house in BA province city of Pergamino that caused six dead and eight injuries that remain at the local football.
According to the BA Province Security Ministry, the investigation led to 46-year-old woman and her alleged boyfriend a 72-year-old man. Sources revealed that the two detainees were staff of the “María Crescencia” old age house.
The fire started around 10.30 pm, and it was immediately reported to the local Fire Department by neighbors.
The same neighbors assured that the retirement house’s main entrance was locked, and that the house’s manager was the first one to escape as soon as the fire started.
Likewise, local reporter, Ángel Pintos, informed that the emergency exit door was not only locked but also welded.
A total of fifteen people were at the nursing home when the fire started, 14 elderly people and a female manager.
Pintos described the horrifying scenario and remarked that “neighbors tried to enter the place but doors were all locked. They had to break through the windows to rescue some of the trapped people.”
At least four fire trucks were working to put out the fire.
