Buenos Aires City Cabinet Chief Horacio Rodríguez Larreta praised the government’s decision to transfer the subway administration and assured it is a “step forward for the autonomy of the city.”
Rodríguez Larreta added that they have always claimed that Buenos Aires should be a city with more autonomy, “not only in transport means, but also regarding security, the police and judiciary administration.”
“It seemed like the national government is willing to establish dialogue with the City, and that it will be an organized transition,” the city Cabinet Chief continued. “We hope this is the beginning of a long path, and that it’s the first step for us to work along with the government, which is the best thing for the Porteños.”
