Argentina: Closing the export season from Patagonia

According to a new report from Statistics Technical Area of the Funbapa, the volume of onions sold up to August 30th this year was 429,739.80 tons, of which 54.34% were sent to the domestic market and the rest, 45.66% for export.

The main destinations were the countries of MERCOSUR (88.77%), Europe (11.11%) and North America (0.01%). Brazil is the largest buyer with 87.64%, followed by Belgium (4.16%) and Netherlands (2.56%).

The major recipient of onions were Pampeana (74.40%), Northeast (17.10%),
Cuyo (5.15%) and Northwest (3.35%).

Most of the production is conventional (96.88%) and other integrated and organic (3.12%).

The province of Buenos Aires provided a 87.63% of the exportable offer and 12.67% of the province of Rio Negro. The departments that contributed the highest volume were Villarino with 101,536 tons, Patagones with 69,809 tons, Conesa with 8187 tons, Adolfo Alsina with 5,073 tons and Avellaneda with 4,796 tons.

The province of Buenos Aires provided a 79.09% of supply in the domestic market and 20.91% of the province of Rio Negro. The departments that contributed the highest volume were Villarino with 129,091 tons, Patagones with 55,622 tons, Conesa with 17,929 tons, Adolfo Alsina with 12,006 tons, Avellaneda with 8,796 tons, General Roca and Others with 959 tons.

The main customs exit to the outside are those located in San Javier, Santo Tomé, Bernardo de Irigoyen and Buenos Aires. The San Antonio West port recorded a 4.36% of shipments.

Area data from this season 2011-2012 for the Province of Buenos Aires showed a reduction of 20% with respect to the area sown in the previous campaign, always reporting with qualified data.(APP)
