Buenos Aires province Governor, Daniel Scioli, came on stage to support the arrest and removal of corrupt policemen. His statement came after the arrest of San Isidro’s Chief Police, Raúl Papa, who is suspected of facilitating “free zones” for a band that was engaged in stealing high-end cars within the Northern Greater Buenos Aires area.
On radio conversation, Scioli assured that “there’s neither impunity nor cover-ups for anyone in the province, no matter who they are or where they work.”
Asked about Papa’s detention, the official said “If there’s one thing I cannot do, that’s to prejudge. Everything is in the hands of justice right now. There are no magic solutions.”
Likewise, Scioli remembered that his goal is “to support the good cops, and punish the bad ones”, and concluded, “I’m the worst enemy of those policemen who are part of criminal episodes and doesn’t honour the uniform they have committed to.”
