Rod Stewart is about to tell all in a tell-all after being pursued by book publishers around the world for the past 20 years wanting Rod the Rocker’s autobiography. Random House made the global acquisition yesterday, acquiring rights to his five decades of adventures.
Music legend and Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Rod — also our new Caesars Palace resident headliner — said he’s “finally ready to take a candid and romping look back at my life on and off the stage.” The as-yet-untitled tome will be published next October.
“It starts from humble British roots to hell-raising years with The Faces and my great loves that led to three marriages and eight children,” Rod said. “I promise you a riveting ride through rock. Forget skeletons in the closet; this one’s going to be socks and knickers under the bed!
“I thought long and hard before committing to write my book. It is a funny, odd thing telling my life story, but I truly intend to hold nothing back. I’ve had quite a life, known some extraordinary people and had some amazing experiences. I’ve waited all this time, until my 50th year in the business, and realize I can no longer put it off.”
Arnold Stiefel, Rod’s longtime manager, added: “For more than 20 years, publishers have pursued me to persuade Rod to write his autobiography; however, he didn’t feel the moment was right, and as I learned long ago, he is the master of timing — and that time is now. At long last, Rod is ready to put pen to paper.”
Recognized by the Queen with a Commander of the British Empire award, Rod kicked off a new two-year residency at Caesars Palace in August.
Before Rod returns to continue the run on The Strip on Nov. 3, he has tour dates in Lima, Peru, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. After Las Vegas, he heads Down Under for dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.
