Protesters block 9 de Julio avenue, chaos in traffic ensues

Leftist organizations march down Nueve de Julio avenue in claims of improvement of cooperative plan “Argentina works,” thus causing traffic chaos in the nearby area.
The rally began in the City neighbourhood of Constitución and reached the doorsteps of the Social Development Ministry, located in 9 de Julio avenue and Moreno street, where protesters threatened to set a campsite if they aren’t able to meet authorities of the Ministry.
“We haven’t spoken to any Government official yet, but there are rumours that that a meeting will be held,” Polo Obrero workers party spokesman Eduardo Belliboni said.
The organizations main claim is an increase in the $1200 Argentina trabaja social plan and to match it to the value of the minimum wage, which stands at 2300 pesos.
They also demand the the reopening of a nation-level inscription of unemployed people without political favouritism for the construction of homes and public works in poor neighbourhoods.
Barrios de Pie, MST, Corriente Clasista y Combativa, among other groups, take part of the protest.
