Workers of Monsa company, which runs the 60 bus line, ratified their strike, which entered its fourth day, due to wage claims.
In two separate assemblies which were held in the Constitución and Maschwitz headquarters, the drivers ratified their measure and once again rejected the mandatory conciliation issued by the Government. Last night the Labour Ministry made a new proposal in order to have the strike lifted, but the drivers rejected it.
The official offer included an initial payment of 300 pesos to be deposited on September 24th and September 28th, and the recognition of past earnings, the payment of wage differences and a joint audit between Transport Secretary and Labour Ministry to detect possible mistakes.
The offer also includes the formal acknowledgement of the UTA bus and subway driver union, regular meetings to solve pending issues and the commitment to maintain a peaceful work environment, spokesmen said.
The proposal was made by Labour Minister Carlos Tomada, Deputy Minister Carlos Rial and the subdirector of Collective Bargaining, Adrián Caneto.
Meanwhile, 250,000 citizens remain affected by the strike. The 60 bus line connects the northern locality of Maschwitz with the City neighbourhood of Constitución and is one of the most important suburban bus lines at a national level.
