CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuela’s vice president says the health of cancer-stricken President Hugo Chavez is steadily improving as the leftist leader undergoes his fourth round of chemotherapy in Cuba.
Vice President Elias Jaua says Chavez «is doing well, better every day,» since beginning treatment after flying to the island Saturday.
Chavez underwent surgery in Cuba in June to remove a tumor from the pelvic region. Since then, he has undergone three rounds of chemotherapy, and has said this should be the final phase.
Chavez says tests have shown no signs of a recurrence.
Jaua did not offer further details regarding Chavez’s treatment when he commented Wednesday.
