‘CFK’s win reveals punishment vote against opposition,’ Pinedo

National deputy candidate, Federico Pinedo (right-wing PRO party), assured that President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s win was a “punishment vote against the opposition.”

“At first glance, we could say that the people have massively punished the opposition for not having generated a highly competitive option.”

Likewise, the head of the PRO caucus in the Lower House explained that results were also the product of the “clear division that the opposition experiences”, and added, “The opposition candidate must be really good in order to face the ruling party with some hopes.”
Furthermore, Pinedo revealed that opposition forces “prioritized the interests of certain groups, hence it got divided with the only intention of obtaining small victories instead of thinking in a more general triumph.”

“As of today, the opposition should focus on opening the dialogue.”

In terms of results, Pinedo has nothing to regret about as prior to yesterday’s primaries, the deputy had stated that he would be glad to make an election around 14-15 percent of the vote. So far, and with 96.84 percent of the polling stations counted, Pinedo took 15.79 percent of the votes for lawmakers.
