The director of the Federal Intelligence Agency (AFI) Oscar Parrilli today rejected criticism from businessmen and opposition leaders against a new intelligence “doctrine” unveiled yesterday which will be focused on increased supervision of intelligence activity. Parrilli assured the AFI “will not investigate” buyers of foreign currency.
«They are trying to hinder the important reforms to the AFI,” Parrilli warned complaining about some interpretations by the press about the reform to former SIDE agency.
He denied the AFI’s role is to investigate those who buy dollars saying “it’s a media distortion.”
Parrilli directly accused opposition media outlets Clarín and La Nación for trying “to distort the facts with a new lie and prompt fear among people.”
According to the new “doctrine” included in a decree published yesterday by the government, the agency will work to prevent “market strikes” from banks and companies as well as “shortages” of mass consumption goods.
