US dollar up at 9.11 pesos; ‘blue’ steady at 13.55

The US dollar closed half a cent up at 9.11 pesos today in banks and foreign exchange agencies, while the Central Bank acquired 40 million dollars, following its 20 million dollar-buy on Wednesday.

A small number of savers bought yesterday over 85 million dollars through the dollar-for-savings scheme, as it happens at the beginning of each month when the AFIP tax bureau authorizes new quotas for such transactions.

The purchase of greenbacks for saving purposes hit a new high on June, making operations authorized by AFIP tax bureau reach 512 million dollars against 495 million dollars sold in April.

Meanwhile, the so called «blue» parallel dollar rate ended unchanged today, amid fear of new government run controls in financial entities and underground houses. The «blue» had jumped yesterday at 13.55 pesos, pushed by the stock exchange rate and the blue-chip swap rate, according to ámbito.com.

After hitting record highs this week, the blue chip swap rate today dropped 19 cents to 13.19 pesos and the stock exchange rate decreased 14 cents to 13.16 pesos.
