The Mayor of San Martín, Gabriel Katopodis, has decided to leave the Renewal Front (FR) and could join the ruling Victory Front (FpV), one day ahead of Sergio Massa´s announcement regarding his presidential bid.
“We want the renewal of peronism, not its defeat,” said Katopodis on Twitter after a meeting with Chief of Staff Eduardo De Pedro at government’s house, adding he will not take part in an “anti-peronist alliance.”
This way, the Mayor of San Martín left the political space leaded by Sergio Massa and rejected an alliance with the PRO party, the Radical Party (UCR) and the Civic Coalition (headed by Elisa Carrió).
After Katopodis’ statements, Sergio Massa, who will make an important announcement tomorrow about his presidential candidacy, said he considers Katopodis a friend, and said he was shocked by the news.
