After two days of a banking strikes, the US dollar today rose half a cent to hit the 9-peso mark in banks and foreign exchange agencies in Buenos Aires city.
This was the official rate’s tenth consecutive increase. It jumped eight cents during this month.
Today, the Central Bank (BCRA) bought 60 million dollars. The strike staged by banking workers on Tuesday and Wednesday following failed wage negotiations kept the BCRA from making any transactions.
Meanwhile, the so called «blue» dollar fell two cents today to close at 12.70 pesos, according to ambito.com news site. The «blue» had previously fallen to 12.66 pesos in earlier trade. This way, the gap bewteen the official US dollar rate and the illegal rate stands at 41.1 percent.
In addition, the blue chip swap rate increased two cents and closed at 11.71 pesos and the stock exchange rate advanced 10 cents to end at 11.68 pesos.
