The so called «blue» dollar spent most of today’s trading down in value, but recovered shortly before the end to close up one cent, at 12.64 pesos. Earlier, the parallel currency had fallen as much as three cents before its late upsurge.
On the other hand, the blue-chip swap rate fell six cents to $11.99, following a two-cent rise while the stock exchange rate went up one cent to $11.66.
The official US currency closed up half a cent at $8.965 in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange office. The Central Bank purchased a total of US$20 million on the markets to keep the official rate under control.
The US dollar went up another half a cent at the end of last week, registering a total weekly increase of two cents. The gap between greenbacks in the informal market and the official rate of the dollar stood 41.2 percent.
