‘Blue’ climbs to 12.62 pesos, official rate trades at 8.955 pesos

The US dollar traded half a cent higher in BA City banks and foreign exchange offices and closed at 8.955 pesos. The Central Bank bought 70 million dollars.

Meanwhile, the so called «blue» dollar ended three cents higher at 12.62 pesos. This was the third consecutive hike for the «blue», which climbed 10 cents since Tuesday, amid lower demand in the «dollar for savings» scheme.

The gap between the official rate and the «blue» stands at 40.9 percent.

Yesterday, the AFIP tax bureau office authorized dollar purchases for US$19.8 million, the lowest number in a working day so far this month, except for Tuesday when a strike in the banking sector took that figure to US$5 million.

Saving demands have reached US$272 million during May, almost 10 percent less compared to the same period in April.

In addition, the blue chip swap rate today decreased three cents to 11.94 pesos while the dollar stock exchange rate traded five cents down to 11.67 pesos.
