US dollar edges up to 8.915 pesos; ‘blue’ closes steady at 12.73 pesos

The official US dollar rate has climbed half a cent and closed at 8.915 pesos in Buenos Aires city banks and foreign exchange agencies, while the Central Bank (BCRA) bought 90 million dollars thanks to agroexport sales.

Yesterday, the BCRA’s reserves got another boost thanks to bond issuance, as US$500 million of the money raised by state-controlled YPF last week were snapped up by the country’s monetary authority in the foreign exchange market, lifting its reserves to US$33.2 billion — the highest level of the last 17 months.

Overall, the Central Bank added US$537 million to its reserves yesterday, a figure that follows the US$1.2 billion it obtained after the country cashed in from the Bonar 2024 bond.

Meanwhile, the so called “blue” dollar that trades in the illegal market closed steady at 12.73 pesos, according to ambito.com. It traded two cents lower at 12.71 pesos earlier in the trading session and rebounded to 12.74 pesos in afternoon trading. Yesterday, the “blue” increased three cents.
