The Economy Ministry led by Axel Kicillof has played down the significance of the ruling passed by the US Second Circuit Court of Appeals rejecting Argentina’s petition against a contempt judgement, stating that the decision only confirms that judge Thomas Griesa’s original judgement was meaningless in practice.
«The US Second Circuit Court of Appeals decided that the contempt order handed down by judge Griesa (who did not establish any type of punishment is not a definitive order,» a statement from the Ministry asserted this evening.
«For that reason, it does not have the capacity to consider it.»
The missive added that «the dismissal of the appeal based in lack of jurisdiction is not confirmation of the contempt ruling.»
«It means only that we must wait for the proper procedures to be carried out in the District Court for the appeal to be heard,» the Ministry stated.
