Prosecutors office confirms phone calls between Stiuso and Nisman

State Prosecutor Viviana Fein’s office today released a new statement which reveals key information about the investigation into the death of special prosecutor Alberto Nisman, in charge of the 1994 deadly terrorist attack against AMIA Jewish community centre.

«From cross-checking the telephone calls to and from the Nextel line in Alberto Nisman’s name, it has been determined that the repeated calls received by the owner of the line which it has been informed is Stiuso, were made by the number of the late prosecutor,» the office said in a statement.

The Prosecutor’s Office clarified that «the register recorded in the files shows the incoming and outgoing calls, but does not reflect the content.»

Fein earlier stressed the importance of hearing testimony from ex Intelligence Secretariat Operations director Antonio “Jaime” Stiuso in the investigation of Alberto Nisman’s death. “I need to know about their relationship,” she said.

Stiuso is expected to testify before Fein this week, the prosecutor confirmed, after the government released him from his confidentiality duties on Thursday. However, she explained that the date and place for the hearing has not been set yet and that the Prosecution is working to meet the privacy conditions requested by Stiuso’s lawyer.

Fein said in a radio interview that she will be inquiring in Nisman’s and Stiuso’s relationship, their “previous communications, what they spoke about, what they have requested to each other before (Nisman’s) death.”

The prosecution rejected once again any pressure from the government. “I don’t feel pressure, at all,” she said. “If I ever feel any pressure I will say so or I will leave,” she stated.
