‘Blue’ dollar falls to 13.18 pesos; formal rate up at 8.68 pesos

The US dollar closed half a cent up today at 8.68 pesos in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices.

Meanwhile, the informal rate of the US currency, the so called blue dollar, fell two cents to 13.18 pesos. Last week the parallel valuation dropped 40 cents. The gap between the official and unofficial rate continues to shrink, narrowing to 51.8 percent in today’s trading.

Despite warnings from analysts that traders could use alternative dollar rates in their search for the US currency, the blue-chip rate fell one cent to sell at 12.30 pesos. The stock exchange rate, meanwhile, jumped 22 cents to 12.52 pesos.
