AMIA, DAIA, Gils Carbó discuss Nisman replacement

The AMIA and DAIA Jewish community organizations have met with Prosecutor General Alejandra Gils Carbó to discuss the candidates that could replace late special prosecutor Alberto Nisman, who was in charge of investigating the bomb attack that killed 85 people in 1994.

“We are not willing to let the cause die. We insist on demanding the cause continues in spite of the prosecutor’s death [referring to Alberto Nisman],” AMIA representative Julio Schlosser told reporters after the meeting, which took place at the Public Prosecution office in downtown Buenos Aires City.

“Gils Carbó guaranteed us the staff members form the district attorney’s office continue working on the [AMIA] cause,” he added.

Carbó is analyzing the possibility of naming a team of prosecutors to follow the cause. The process to name a replacement could take between two weeks and one month.

“The most important thing is that Gils Cabró names an unquestionable prosecutor, one that cannot be disputed or doubted,” Leonardo Jlimensky, AMIA’s president, said.
