The US dollar closed up half a cent to 8.605 pesos in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices. It has climbed 3 cents in the first working week of the year, despite the efforts of the Central Bank, which sold US$30 million today to control climbs.
Meanwhile, the informal rate of the US currency, the so called «blue» dollar, was up two cents to 13.77 pesos in the City’s underground foreign exchange house.
The gap between the official and informal rates stands at 60 percent.
