Teamsters lift 24-hour strike, bonus deal clinched

Teamsters have lifted a 24-hour strike from midnight today, after the union’s deputy secretary Pablo Moyano confirmed a year-end bonus of 4,000 pesos has been clinched with the FADEEAC transport federation.
“If in the meeting there is no favourable solution, from today at midnight we make 24 hours of national strike. We have been offered 2,500 pesos as a bonus,” the deputy secretary of the union had said adding that workers already stopped activities in “several sectors” since yesterday.

In an interview with a radio show today, Pablo Moyano explained the bonus they demanded is to cope with “40 percent of annual inflation” and “income tax” deductions, questioning a recent decision by the Cristina Fernández de Kirhner administration to exempt December’s “aguinaldo” payment from income tax for employees earning up to 35,000 pesos.

For Moyano, that move was only “charity, resolves nothing”.
