CFK travels to Ecuador for UNASUR summit

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is travelling today to Ecuador to attend the VIII Summit of the head of states of the countries of The Union of Southern Nations (UNASUR) and to the inauguration of the Union’s headquarters named after ex president and the bloc’s first Secretary General, Néstor Kirchner.
Ms. Kirchner will arrive in Guayaquil city around 2 pm (local time) to attend the pro-tempore presidency handover ceremony, from Surinam to Uruguay.
The president will then travel to Quito, the country’s capital, to attend the summit and the inauguration of UNASUR’s headquarters. The official meeting of the bloc’s head of states is scheduled to begin at 3 pm (local time).
Tomorrow, the leaders of UNASUR will gather in Ciudad de Mitad del Mundo, a national landmark located north of Quito, which marks the equator, where the new UNASUR building will be inaugurated.
