President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner met Nuncio Emil Paul Tscherrig, in a private audience at the government House in Olivos where they accorded to begin the tenders aimed for the renovation of the basilicas of Luján and Mercedes, among other church buildings.
Several members of the national cabinet participated in the meeting, including Planning Minister Julio de Vido, Public Works secretary Julio López, national lawmaker for the Victory Front Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro, and Gustavo López, Presidency deputy secretary.
Church authorities were present as well, including president of the Argentine Episcopal Confederacy, Monsignor Hosé María Arancedo (Mercedes-Luján archbishop), Monsignor Agustín Radrizzani, Frays Enid Gutiérrez Olms, Jorge Alberto Bender, Diego Morea, Horacio Duarte and Jode Stipech, and architect Gustavo García, member of Patrimonium Cultural Foundation.
Later this evening the Federal government announced that Fernádez de Kichner will participate in a public festival at Plaza de Mayo on December 10, as part of a demonstration of power towards the 2015 presidential elections.
Victory Front pre-candidates will join the head of state during the political rally, which will commemorate the International Day of Human Rights, the date where Argentina has recovered its democracy after six years of dictatorship between 1976 and 1983.
