‘Nothing has hurt UNEN more than Carrió’

Controversy continued after lawmaker Elisa Carrió quit UNEN-Broad Front and ranted against her former allies in the center-left coalition. Senator Fernando Pino Solanas reiterated that the bloc is not anywhere near its end but acknowledged that Carrió has seriously damaged it.
“Nothing has hurt UNEN more than her,” Solanas said in an interview with América radio. “Carrió built bridges with PRO when she had always denounced it for corruption,” he added.
The growing infighting in the coalition began when Carrió opened the door to an electoral alliance with centre-right PRO party, which was strongly rejected by Solanas himself and the UCR party.
“UNEN will stay together,” Solanas said. He stated that the coalition “has enough potential” and that it has no need for external alliances.
The UNEN coalition is made up of eight parties, of which the UCR, the Socialist Party, the Córdoba Civic Front, the Civic Coalition, Proyecto Sur and Libres del Sur are the most important.
