The Delegation of Israeli-Argentine Jewish Associations (DAIA) has officially condemned the attack on a Jerusalem synagogue that claimed the lives of five people on Wednesday, saying the violent incident accounted for an “affront against most profound human values.”
In a statement released today, the DAIA organization expressed its “categorical condemnation of the attack by fundamentalist terrorism perpetrated in a synagogue of the city of Jerusalem.”
Yesterday, two Palestinians armed with a meat cleaver and a gun killed five people in a Jerusalem synagogue before being shot dead by police, the deadliest such incident in six years in the holy city.
“This sinister attack, committed in a place of prayer, constitutes an insult to the most profound human values and deserves the condemnation of the international community,” the document reads.
“There is no political argumentation that can justify the assassination of defenseless civilians, among them three rabbis. Those inciting genocidal hatred are as responsible as the material authors of the massacre.”
The DAIA Jewish group also expressed its condolensces to the families of the victims and reaffirmed its “commitment in the search of peace and the eradication of the terrorist scourge.”
