Bank workers launch 24-hour strike for Wednesday

Private and Public banks in the country will be paralysed on Wednesday due to a nation-wide strike called by the union which represents employees in the sector with renewed demands to update the income tax floor.
The union confirmed the walk-out and rallies organised for Wednesday after receiveing “no response” to its claims from the government, unionist head Sergio Palazzo explained.
Bank workers also demand for a compensatory payment and against outsourcing operations.
“We have no other choice but to move to defend the salary’s purchasing power,” Palazzo said. “We have been denied a compensation, they set wages below what thousands of workers deserve by outsourcing, and they refuse to comply with the collective wage agreement.
