Stock exchange dollar, blue-chip rise but «blue» falls to 15.75 pesos

The so called «blue» dollar fell back 20 cents today to close at 15.75 pesos, even though the stock exchange dollar rate or MEP was up 23 cents at 14.70, and the blue-chip swap rate increased by 32 cents to close at 14.73 pesos.
The informal rate had climbed 53 cents yesterday to end at 15.95 pesos hitting a new record high.
Analysts said speculation had driven the «blue» up during the past weeks but today pressure over the informal rate diminished.
Meanwhile, the official rate was steady today and closed at 8.44 pesos in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices.
The gap between the official rate and the «blue» is now at 86.6 percent.
The Central Bank’s reserves went up yesterday by US$5 million to reach US$28,221 million.
