CFK to meet with Pope Francis on Sept. 20

Secretary to the Presidency Oscar Parrilli announced that President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will have a private lunch with Pope Francis in Santa Marta residence at the Vatican before travelling to New York for the annual United Nations General Assembly.

Ms. Kirchner will arrive at the Vatican on September 19 and will meet with the Pope the next day, the official explained. He added that the president has been personally invited to a private lunch by the Pope himself in a letter.

The president will then leave Rome for the US on September 21 to speak at the United Nations General Assembly, Parrilli said.

In the US, Ms. Kirchner will attend the Security Council meeting on September 24 and she also plans to meet with business leaders and international unionists

The president will be returning to Argentina on September 25.
