Senate commission on consumer laws in recess

Senate commissions on the proposed amendments to the Supply law, the Competition law and a new bill to create a state mediation centre will resume tomorrow at 11am, after entering a recess on Tuesday evening.

Head of the Constitutional Matters Commission Marcelo Fuentes informed that Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich, Justice Minister Julio Alak, Trade Secretary Augusto Costa and Justice Secretary Julián Álvarez will attend Congress tomorrow.

Today, the debate started at 5pm with the bill that seeks to create a state mediation centre where consumers would be able file complaints and receive free legal aid. If an agreement isn’t reached with the business, consumers will be allowed to ask the Trade Secretariat for a quick solution to obtain compensation or go to the national judiciary.

Both kirchnerite and opposition forces appear to have agreed on the bill.

Meanwhile, the Supply law and the Competition law, which provoked the fiercest criticism from opposition representatives and business chambers, will be discussed later on.
