Following yesterday’s meeting between Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) representatives and Domestic Trade Secretary Augusto Costa, Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich said the government is expecting the Congress to discuss the series of new bills drafted by the Executive to amend laws that protect consumers and regulate companies.
“The Executive’s initiative is to create conditions to reform the Commercial Loyalty law, the Consumer Protection law, Protection of Competition, and Supply law and to create a new judicial forum,” Capitanich detailed. “The goal is to create regulation mechanisms for the price formation process,” he added.
“We hope this judicial framework is discussed soon by the Congress,” the official said. “It will give us tools for an effective state intervention”.
“Argentina’s problem is the high economic concentration,” Capitanich stated and added that the government is confident thaat the the new judicial framework “will guarantee price reductions.”
