‘Blue’ dollar plunges 50 cents to 12.30 pesos

The US dollar went up today 1 cent and closed at 8.22 pesos in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices. The Central Bank yesterday purchased u$s50 million with Argentina’s international reserves hitting u$S20 billion.

Meanwhile, the so called “blue” dollar droped 50 cents to close at 12.30 pesos. Yesterday, greenbacks closed at 12.80 pesos in an informal-market session marked by uncertainty over ongoing negotiations in New York between the federal government and representatives of vulture funds suing the country over its defaulted bonds.

The news about an unexpected move by Argentina’s national private banks offering to buy the defaulted bonds from hedge funds, and approaching to save Argentineans from default, came up yesterday after markets had already closed.
