Government has confirmed Judge Thomas Griesa called for a new meeting on Wednesday while saying he “did not solve anything” during today’s hearing and accusing him of using “vulture funds’ terminology,” in an official press release by the Economy Ministry.
“Griesa summoned banks, bondholders and Government lawyers but left everything in suspense, threatening the Argentine Republic with what he insists on calling a default,” the press release reads.
The note does not clarify if Economy Ministry officials will take part on Wednesday’s meeting, which will be held by appointed mediator Special Master Daniel Pollack.
“Default means not being able to pay. Argentina pays. The money deposited cannot be blocked because it belongs to bondholders. The Judge must let bondholders collect their money. Argentina wants to honor its debts with the totality of bondholders in just, equal, legal and sustainable conditions,” the Ministry stated.
