After Economy Minister Axel Kicillof said the government will continue negotiating with the US courts and that it is getting ready to pay holdout hedge funds, UNEN Broad Front’s lawmaker Hermes Binner said “Argentina is in no position to set rules” in the negotiation.
“We should go [to the negotiating table] calmly, ready to negotiate no matter what,” Binner said in an interview with El Mundo radio. He said this state of mind is “essential” for Argentina’s future. “Everything is up for negotiation,” he stated.
But UNEN’s lawmaker pointed out that Argentina is in a weak position. “Today we are at a crossroad: to pay or not to pay. We have no money, but if we don’t pay we will default which would be a very complicated situation,” Binner said.
“Cristina has to respect the Constitution,” he said in a direct message to the President. “If I was president we would not be in this situation, because this was not unexpected,” he added.
