Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich was confident that an agreement will be reached today in the bilateral meeting to be held at 3 p.m. between Industry Minister Débora Giorgi and Economy Minister Axel Kicillof with Brazil’s Development, Industry and Commerce Minister Mauro Borges.
“There is a positive expectation to strike a deal for the automobile industry at 3 p.m.,” Capitanich said in his daily press briefing at Government House. He explained the deal is to include an extension of the Flex agreement – that expires on June 30-, and to boost bilateral trade.
“The challenge is to create incentives for auto parts, and conditions to sustain the employment, production and exports levels,” the Kirchnerite official said.
The Cabinet Chief stressed the importance of encouraging the establishment of auto part plants in the country, in order to “increase the manufacturing of national components” in each unit.
“If the proportional share of auto parts made in Argentina grows, it will entail more jobs and better sustainability for the automobile industry. That is what the agreement seeks,” Capitanich explained.
