After an urgent meeting with Labour Ministry officials and Transport Companies’ managers convened by the government, UTA Transport Union head Roberto Fernández ratified the general strike announced for tomorrow in short, medium and long distance buses.
“In this state of things, the strike is on,” he asserted. The Union leader explained that a new meeting is scheduled for this afternoon with government officials and transport companies’ delegates.
“I am satisfied with Jorge Capitanich’s and [Labour Deputy Minister] Noemí Rial intervention,” Fernandez said. “They might meet with transportation owners now and maybe they reach an agreement,” he added.
Although he confirmed tomorrow’s walkout, the UTA head said: “We will talk again this afternoon to see if we find a solution”.
