In his daily press briefing Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich referred to some of the key topics he addressed yesterday in his testimony to the Senate, including the government’s statistics on social development.
“The government doesn’t keep information hidden,” he said referring to poverty indicators and pledged that the new basic food basket report will be released soon after undergoing methodological changes.
“Some issues are not up for debate because there is objective data,” Capitanich said. He praised the social indicators released by the Kirchnerite administration and criticized those published by NGOs for being “politically-oriented against the government” and having dubious methodology standards.
The head of ministers highlighted the government’s «extraordinary efforts made towards social inclusion and better income conditions as well as the need to keep working on it.”
Asked about the automobile industry situation, Capitanich said the Cristina Fernández de Kirchner administration “is working hard to maintain employments levels”. He mentioned the progress achieved in the negotiations with Brazilian government to tackle the sector’s deficit and with the SMATA mechanics union.
