Former Barcelona’s director general, Joan Lacueva played a key role in the arrival of Argentinean football star Linonel Messi to the Spanish club back in 2001. Lacueva paid for Messi’s growth hormone treatment out of his own pocket.
Born in 1949, Joan Lacueva was Barca’s sport director under the Leadership of Joan Gaspart.
He was also a manager at the Espanyol football club.
