Sales in supermarkets and shopping centres experienced a sharp growth in March, according to figures released by the National Statistics and Census Institute (INDEC).
The state statistics agency revealed that in supermarkets, sales totalled 13.82 billion pesos, a 34.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2013. The total also represented a 13.7 percent rise on February sales figures.
Across the first three months of 3014, supermarkets increased sales by 33.7 percent in comparison to the first trimester of last year.
March data for shopping centres meanwhile showed growth of 29.4 percent, with total sales rising to 2.27 million pesos, according to the INDEC Shopping Centre Poll.
