Victory Front lawmaker and former Economy Vice Minister Roberto Feletti today affirmed that Argentina’s economic situation “is far from recessionary” predicting a 2.5 percent growth for 2014. “All the economists, even anti-government ones, are ruling out a recession and expecting a slow growth of 2.5 percent,” he stated.
«Argentina is revealing growth rates below last year’s, due to a lower currency inflow but it has never stopped encouraging fiscal and monetary stimulus to continue with its growth process,” Feletti added.
He denied the existence of a recession accompanied with inflation, and said “those who talked about the possibility of stagflation, are demanding fiscal adjustments to halt Argentina’s expanding monetary and fiscal policy.”
Feletti predicted the economy will take off in 2015 and more markedly in 2016. “The future scenario of Argentina is positive, because we expect to reach an energy self-sufficiency, and the deal with Repsol gives value to non-conventional oil in Vaca Muerta.”
