Rossi highlights ‘Different armed forces’ in presentation of dictatorship files

Defence minister Agustin Rossi today handed over a copy of the complete minutes of meetings from the last dictatorship, discovered last year in the ministry’s Condor Building, to Grandmothers’ leader Estela de Carlotto, and underlined his conviction that the armed forces have changed.

«[The minutes] feed the hope of finding what the people will continue searching for», the politician affirmed in the ceremony, accompanied by the human rights activist.

«Today we have different armed forces, who think towards the future and who are less anchored in the past.

De Carloto also praised the changes made in the institutions, stating «There is a new generation in the forces, they are democratising and updating study plans from the ground up».

«Of course, the same old crazies are still there, who are still conspiring even from their prison cells,» the Grandmothers’ figurehead added.

The activist also moved to defend Supreme Court justice Eugenio Zaffaroni, who was recently criticised by Sergio Massa; assuring that the judge is «a good honest person, collaborative and a democrat.»

«If we are going to go back and look for employees who over the years have been promoted, this will turn into a witchhunt.»
