Scioli: Strike is a roadblock to progress

Buenos Aires governor Daniel Scioli has maintained that the general strike called today by anti-government trade union leaders was a step in the wrong direction for Argentina, while urging the nation to seek alternative measures for progress.

The stoppage, led by CGT directors Hugo Moyano and Luis Barrionuevo and accompanied by several other unions and activist organisations, brought public transport to a halt in many cities, while stopping bus, train and subway services in the City of Buenos Aires and surrounding areas.

«The strike is a huge roadblock to the nation’s progress,» Scioli fired, adding that Argentina should «movilise all of its potential and work towards development.»

Speaking to Noticias Argentinas, the governor called for a more constructive form of airing disputes and conflicts.

«The people need more proposals and less protests in order to move towards the future,» he stated.
