Neuquen: 1,000 evacuated after powerful storms

The number of people who were forced to abandon their homes in Neuquen reached one thousand this morning, after heavy rainfall and strong winds hit that province of the west of the country.
The minister of Cabinet, Security and Labour Coordination of the province, Gabriel Gastaminza, informed authorities were working to establish the damage the storm left behind and “one thousand people were evacuated, 510 of them from the capital city of Neuquen.”
He added “in Plottier locality evacuated reached 270, in Senilosa 30, in Cutral Co 25, in Centenario 5, in Añelo 65 and in China Muerta there are 34 people evacuated.”
The provision of food and clothes and medical and psychological assistance were already organized according to the minister and three new centres for the evacuated were opened.
School classes and public transportation were cancelled in the east of the province.
Large supermarkets and stores as well as provincial routes were closed.
