Omar Maturano has ratified the La Fraternidad train workers’ union will be joining the April 10 strike warning the government should expect a “total” paralysis in public transport.
In statements to media, Maturano questioned comments by Interior and Transport Minister Florencio Randazzo who had said the walkout would only “complicate” people’s life. “It is a public service the government invests a lot in, creating a social inclusion policy,” Randazzo considered earlier in the week.
“We support the project of redevelopment of our industry but there other things we do not support,” the La Fraternidad head told reporters today and affirmed the April 10 force measure is not “political.”
In the meantime, the Unión Ferroviaria train worker’s union will not adhere to the strike with its leader Sergio Sasia explaining the railway system in Argentina was “recovering.” “We will put all our workers at people’s disposal so that it is an ordinary working day; that is the commitment we have,” Sasia assured following a meeting with Randazzo on Monday.
The anti-government splinters of the CGT labour confederation commanded by Hugo Moyano and Luis Barrionuevo have defied the Cristina Fernández de Kirchner administration with a general strike for next week.
